Black Turtle Beans
Black turtle beans are popular in Latin American cuisine but are used worldwide in a range of dishes. They are a popular choice for stews, soups and casseroles.
How to soak and cook dried black turtle beans: Soak beans in water for 6-12 hours, drain. Add to a pot of boiling water and simmer for approx. 1 hour.
How to store black turtle beans: Orders will sent in paper bags (please reuse and recycle), but we recommend storing beans in an airtight container upon delivery. Once cooked, beans can be put out on a baking tray, frozen, and then stored in containers in the freezer.
Tinned to dried beans conversion: As a general rule of thumb, dried beans roughly triple in weight when cooked. A 400g can of beans yields about 240g of drained beans, so you will need to use about 80g dried beans per can (so for 4 cans use 320g dried beans).
